Pauline McAuley, RECE

My School Co-op Teacher
Pauline came to Canada from Glasgow, Scotland in 1974. After beginning her career with work as a caregiver, she settled down in the east end of Toronto and worked for 10 years in the Riverdale Hospital Daycare as Assistant Supervisor. A young family of her own kept her busy for several years; then, with a move to the High Park neighbourhood, Pauline joined My School in 1990 and has overseen all of the school’s growth.

“Pauline is an exemplary teacher. She is tremendously knowledgeable about teaching the preschool years and consistently demonstrates care and kindness towards the children, staff and parents. Her firm but fair teaching style creates an extremely safe and nurturing learning environment where the students are truly able to flourish. Pauline’s expertise is undoubtedly a contributing factor to the popularity and success of My School.”  -- Nicole Kertz, My School V.P. 2014/15

Ann-Kristin Bito, B.A. RECE

Program Supervisor & Teacher
A-K was born and raised in Norway. She holds a Degree in Early Childhood Education from Oslo University. A-K has over 15 years’ experience working with toddlers, preschool and school age children in a variety of settings. In Norway she worked at an outdoor-nature childcare and a Waldorf childcare. She has used these experiences to influence the programs she later worked at in Toronto. After many years working at an inclusive co-op preschool and after school care, she completed Management for Early Childhood Educators at George Brown College in June 2017 and joined My School in September the same year.

She lives in Riverdale with her Nova Scotian husband and their son who is studying in Montreal.

Dana Schafer

My School Co-op Teacher
Dana grew up in Mississauga and has been looking after children of all ages for as long as she can remember. She has lived and worked as a nanny in Ontario as well as Vancouver where she resided for 4 years. In 2013 she settled into the Roncesvalles neighbourhood and began providing child care for many families in the area. In 2015 Dana started running an after school arts and craft program in her father's studio/gallery space. It became a busy little program quite quickly and Dana was even able to provide a March Break camp which turned out to be very successful.  Dana lives with her 4 year old son who is in his first year at Fern Avenue Public School. He attended My School in 2017. My School is a very inspiring, inviting, caring and community orientated program and Dana is thrilled to be a part of it. She will be beginning the venture of achieving her diploma in Early Childhood Education in 2019.

Marianna Adams

Assistant
Marianna attended George Brown School for vocational training and has been involved with My School for 22 years, from helping out during her P. A. days during high school and college, to working full time, and becoming the very important part of our program that she is today. In her home life, Marianna is the eldest of four children, and is well known and loved by families in our neighbourhood.

What Our Parents Are Saying

"It has been our third year with My School as a family and parting will be hard. Pauline and Susan are wonderful teachers and thanks to them (and those warm hugs from Mariana!) our children are growing to be curious and confident little people. It is hard to describe why My School is such a parenting highlight but, oh well, I just cannot imagine giving those tiny ones a better start. I have often had the impression that the teachers know my children better than I do. And the wonderful program, the crafts, numerous activities to nurture the interests of literally each little one. I learned a lot and I think that bonded with my children more. Finally the numbers: for the maximum of 24 or 25 children, there is six fully engaged adults. You can't beat that!" read more testimonials
